Tommy Bissig, Jr.
The founder of Seneca Tree Company, Thomas Bissig, Senior (Sr), was originally employed by PSE&G and was an expert at climbing telephone poles.
As an act of community service, Tom (Sr.) would help his neighbors and friends within the small community of Indian Lake, NJ by applying his acquired climbing skills to cut branches, remove limbs and take down entire trees. In 1974, Tom picked up his roots (pun intended) and started his own tree service company – Seneca Tree Service – which was named for the street where he resided in Denville, NJ – Seneca Trail.
On his son’s 12th birthday, Tom brought his son, Tommy (Jr.) into the family business with a true ‘coming of age’ task – clearing brush! “I remember it was my 12th birthday and my father said, “Get in the truck, we have work to do!” Since then, it’s been a life-long “up-tree climb” career for Tommy. After his dad’s passing, Tommy took over his father’s business and used the profits to purchase more equipment. As the business grew, so did the need for a larger crew, so Tommy then turned to his friend, Fred Breem, for assistance.
In 1995, Tommy and Fred became business partners and established Seneca Tree Service, Incorporated. To ensure exceptional customer service, they continually invest in their business by adding more equipment, updating old machines with new, offering crane services and rentals, and employing the ‘best in the business’ to service their customers.
Today, Seneca Tree Service, Inc. is a successful business with loyal employees – some of which have been with the company since the beginning. Spanning two generations, Seneca Tree Service has far exceeded what Tom (Sr.) would have ever imagined!
Co-Owner & Business Director/Estimates
Prior to partnering with Tommy Bissig, Frederick (Fred) Breem started his own landscaping service – F. Breem Landscaping – out of Denville, NJ.
Like Tommy, his motivation and business skills brought him into a rapidly increasing business which soon became a very rewarding – yet time consuming- venture. With two friends and two businesses soaring and ready to explode, they turned their two minds together and merged in 1995. Six months into the partnership, they took on more employees, more equipment and the business grew faster than an Empress Tree (which is the fastest growing tree in the world).
Today, Fred’s roles is to provide estimates to customers, schedule the work load for the crews, and act as the business liaison for customers, municipality members, police, emergency services, and other officials.
When you don’t see Fred riding in his red truck, you’ll most likely find him with his wife of 25 years, Larysa, and their three beautiful daughters, Lauren, Amanda and Emily.
Co-Owner, Customer Liaison (and Fred Breem’s better half!)
Larysa graduated from The County College of Morris with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. Prior to joining Seneca Tree Service, Inc, her professional business experience included positions in insurance, accounting and real estate.
Larysa married Fred Breem in 1989 and became a devoted wife and mother to their three girls (names listed above!)
In 2008, Larysa took on the role of full-time Office Manager for Seneca Tree Service, Inc. Her primary responsibilities are customer service, business financials and banking. Larysa responds to all telephone, email and Facebook inquires and is available to assist with any tree issues/emergencies/scheduling of work. Clients find her personable and willing to obtain the best quote.
